Original Poem(Water for Elephants)
Running and panting, I cross a path
I’m so sweaty that I could use a bath
Jumping and climbing my way to the top
Then suddenly I see the cop
I’m searching for a way out
I scream out a loud shout
I try and use my brain
Then suddenly I see a night-train
I hop on and hold on for dear life
Clutching to the end of my knife
I hold it in my mouth as my hands struggle
I have beer under my coat in which I smuggle
I hop on the box car while holding my breath
It seems as though I’m falling to my death
As the wind breaks free of my chest
I realized that I have a new quest
Original Poem (Light in August)
I’m in search for my boyfriend
I don’t know where he’d go
He took all my money, I have none to spend
And even worse my belly has begun to show
Hitchhiking is my only option
He said he was only leaving for work
I will not give this baby up for adoption
Now I think he’s lying, that stupid jerk
Searching and searching this could last forever
But I better hurry because this baby is coming
Now I’m stuck in this stormy weather
The little baby’s feet are drumming
Homeless and with no food,
I am forced to steal and lie
It puts me in a bad mood
So I look up towards the sky with a long, long sigh
The Seeker by The Who
I looked under chairs
I looked under tables
I try to find the key
To fifty million fables
They call me the seeker
I've been searchin' low and high
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
I asked Bobby Dylan
I asked the Beatles
I asked Timothy Leary
But he couldn't help me either
They call me the seeker
I've been searchin' low and high
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
People tend to hate me
Cause I never smile
As I ransack their homes they wanna shake my hand
Focusin' on nowhere
Investigatin' miles
I'm a seeker I'm a really desperate man
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
I learned how to raise my voice in anger
Yeah but look at my face, ain't this a smile
I'm happy when life's good, and when it's bad I cry
I got values but I don't know how or why
I'm lookin' for me
You're lookin' for you
We're lookin' at each other and we don't know what to do
They call me the seeker
I've been searchin' low and high
I won't get to get what I'm after
Till the day I die
I looked under tables
I try to find the key
To fifty million fables
They call me the seeker
I've been searchin' low and high

Searching…for Something Invisible by M.E. Gaines (Poem)
Daily I search for something invisible
Something I once held…but now fear is lost
Lost to my senses I feel not its presence
My life without it…has paid quite a cost
Something I once held…but now fear is lost
Lost to my senses I feel not its presence
My life without it…has paid quite a cost
Infinitely valuable and yet has no price tag
Each day without it is hard to endure
Missing so long…it’s unrecognizable
Yet I know somehow…its essence is pure
Each day without it is hard to endure
Missing so long…it’s unrecognizable
Yet I know somehow…its essence is pure
One day I’ll find it and ease all my burdens
Strength will renew itself deep in my soul
Life will look different…the future much brighter
Step by step upward…I’ll climb from this hole.
Strength will renew itself deep in my soul
Life will look different…the future much brighter
Step by step upward…I’ll climb from this hole.
How did I lose it? It’s hard to remember
Turning my back…it began to disappear
Since then the world has seemed cold and distant
Days of unhappiness become nights of fear
Turning my back…it began to disappear
Since then the world has seemed cold and distant
Days of unhappiness become nights of fear
Even the prayers I lift…find themselves lacking
My spirit ails from the loss of this friend
Inside…a hole still awaits its returning
Till then my body and soul will not mend
My spirit ails from the loss of this friend
Inside…a hole still awaits its returning
Till then my body and soul will not mend
Though it is lost I will keep on searching
Deep down inside…I know it still exists
It is unseen…but in time it will shine forth
Changing my life…which eternity insists.
Deep down inside…I know it still exists
It is unseen…but in time it will shine forth
Changing my life…which eternity insists.
Double Voice Poem
I have nowhere else to go now
All this mess caused by me
Where shall I take her where she’ll be safe?
What have I gotten myself into?
Why did I say the elephant was mine
And why did she say the horses were hers
We must search for a new life
We need to find a place to spend the rest of our lives
I need to know where he went
Why did he leave for work for such a long time?
I know he’s here
I just can’t find him
Will he stick around or will he run off
Did he forget about us?
Oh I sure hope not
Who are all these people?
Attention Circus Staff!
Jacob Jankowski, the vet for all the show animals, has completely gone out of his head. He was supposed to get red lighted last night around 2 in the morning. He had escaped from his box car in the middle of the night after being knocked out during the day. He’s been causing trouble ever since the bull came around. Rumors also are going around that he’s been with Marlena. Both August and Uncle Al want him gone. Apparently, August woke up next to a knife the morning after Jacob was missing from his box car. He could be a danger to all of you. Whoever sees him and gets him to Uncle Al will receive 2 days payment and even a promotion. Uncle Al also stated that Jacob was not following his orders. His orders were specifically to help the show from collapsing and Jacob refused to follow them correctly. He could be the cause of the collapse of the Greatest Show on Earth! Don’t let him be!
Dear diary,
I’ve finally reached the town where I think Lucas is. Apparently he goes by a different name, but no one here will tell me. I wonder why he came out here to work and changed his name. It’s really strange. Anyways, there’s this really nice man that’s been helping me out and talking to me a lot. His name is Byron. I have a strong feeling that I know Lucas is here and I’m going to stay in a tent by his work place. Byron offered to helped me out, but I refused. I think he’s going to anyways. I’ve been looking for Lucas for 9 months now. The baby should be due soon and I want him to be there for it. I want him to know how much I love him and I can’t wait to see how good of a father he’s going to be. Oh I just know he’s going to be a great dad! I hope he doesn’t leave our baby just like my parents left me. Being an orphan is not the life to live. Jefferson is a very weird town and I don’t know if I’ll defiantly find Lucas, but I sure hope I do!

Found Poem (Water for Elephants)
It’s just no good anymore
I stare at my milky blue eyes in the mirror
I look long and hard
But I’m in search for something that isn’t there
I can’t find myself anymore
I look straight into my face
I freeze at the sight of my wrinkles
I stare at my old hand and try to remember what it looked like
I open my eyes, trying to see
Who I use to be
